Looking for your next role in the current climate can be tricky, so what can you do to stand out from the crowd? If you are struggling to know what to include in your CV, here at Blocktech MEP we thought we would give you some free information to help you help yourself.
What should my CV include?
Blocktech MEP converse with our partners, MEP and Construction firms, daily. They know what they want to see on a CV with specific information relating to these industries, so here’s a quick rundown of what to include:
- Header with your name and contact information
- Professional Profile
- Education & Qualifications
- Professional Work Experience
- Additional Information – projects you have been involved in, and additional training
Professional Profile
Your professional profile is a snapshot about you and who you are, made up of 3 or 4 lines. This is your chance to introduce yourself and highlight some key achievements in your CV. Remember to tailor this to the role you are applying for.
You could also use this section to list 5 or 6 bullet points of your core skills.
Education & Qualifications
List your professional qualifications and certifications.
Keep it simple and use bullet points with one line for each, starting with your most recent. Include the title and level of the qualification, year of achievement, and the institution.
Professional Work Experience
This is the most important section of your CV.
Detail your latest job first. Include your job title, company name, and dates worked. Mention if it was a contract role, if applicable.
Then describe your key responsibilities, successes, and achievements in that role.
Additional Information
This is a helpful section to highlight any achievements or projects you’ve been proud to be involved in.
Remember to think about the job you are applying for—what key skills and experiences are potential employers looking for?
