Our Client is seeking a highly motivated Project Manager with experience in the design and construction of Critical Facilities to become part of the data centre design team. Building and operating reliable and efficient data centres is essential to support their growth.
The data centre engineering team collaborates with all key stakeholders to ensure engineering and design of the data centres incorporate considerations from micro-levels (servers and IT equipment design requirements) to macro-levels (mechanical cooling and power distribution options) to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability of the compute infrastructure.
The Design team leads the design execution process of our Data Centres, taking a project from Site Schematic stage through full Design to Tender & Construction Documentation stages, through to Site Execution, partnering with our Infra Construction Management Team.
This position will play a key role in supporting all aspects of the data centre design retrofit project management and administration. The Project Manager will partner with all levels across the organization to gather information that form part of our retrofit design.
The Project Manager will manage a variety of general design projects. They will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to drive a cohesive and high impact retrofit project/program. They will also work to find opportunities for process improvement within the retrofit space, in order to drive consistency and efficiency across the organization, along with our cross-functional and external partners.
Responsibilities
1) Design and Construction Administration (CA) Phase Project Management Support
- The Project Manager will be required to coordinate with both internal stakeholders and external A|E & GC teams.
- They will need to issue RFP’s to consultants and review proposals and resource loaders for projects.
- Coordinate meetings for page turns. Review agenda and attendees.
- Coordinate and validate design deliverable schedules from Pre-Design to Construction Administration phase.
- Issue/manage owner’s review comments to A|E & GC team
- Tracking of the design schedule and deliverable due dates
- Escalate design changes impacting scope and cost to all pertinent stakeholders to align on criticality and necessity.
- Coordinate with document control teams to ensure closeout timeline and deliverables are met per contract requirements.
- Approximately 20% travel to both domestic and international project locations after travel restrictions are lifted. All projects are currently being supported remotely.
- Take ownership and work to achieve the goal with good team spirit
- Provide solutions to projects under pressure
- Respond on an as-needed basis to emergencies
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 10+ years professional experience in Project Management in design and construction.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills;
- Must have effective communications skills, fluent in English;
- Familiarity with the construction and cost estimating process
- Experience with retrofits in operational facilities
- Experience with cross-discipline critical facility systems
